Hailing from Romania, Edith is an independent pop artist, she moved to the UK to pursue her music career. She has dropped several killer singles, including the track ‘I Kinda Liked You‘, which could be easily an anthem for this summer.

Edith began writing songs at the wee age of just 10, trying to express her emotions, she won a guitar from her parents at the age of 12 and has continued to work hard to develop her brand of pop music influenced by the likes of Lany, The Weekend, and 80s pop.

Last year she released her debut self-titled EP which handfed some notorious gigs in London with one being at The Notting Hill Arts Club, her song ‘I Kinda Liked You‘ is about a break up with an empowering girls messages, I had the opportunity to have an interview with Edith that you can follow up bellow.

Why did you decide to become a musician?

I have always loved music, ever since I was a toddler. I would sing in the mirror all day and annoy my entire family haha.

Who inspired you to pursue a music career?

My main inspiration when I was younger was probably Rihanna and John Lennon. I know, weird combination, I grew up in a very musically diverse family and I think they all influenced me differently.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music dream?

There’ a LOT of competition. There are going to be many people along the way, saying you can’t do it, but you have to keep trusting your own gut and those who believe in you, even if it’s one person.

What do you fear the most in this business?

I fear not being able to do what I LOVE.

What is the message behind ‘I Kinda Liked You’?

‘I Kinda Liked You’ was a really fun song to make, I recorded this one in London with the producer I usually work with, Paddy Hunt. I wrote the songs in less than 20 minutes because in that moment that is EXACTLY how I felt about a specific person in my life. Realising that in fact, you need to love and like yourself as much as you can before letting someone else in your life, and if that someone is damaging, then just let them go, it’s honestly a waste.

Why did you move to London, how does it feel like there?

I actually live outside London, with my parents, but I am hoping to move out soon enough! I’ve always wanted to live in New York. Fingers crossed!!

What is different between your debut single and the ones you are releasing now?

My debut single, and album as a whole, was me at 16, me still discovering who I truly am. In fact, I am still discovering who I am and finding my sound. It’s a long journey but it’s all so worth it.

Tell us a little about Never Stay Too Long!

If there was a revenge song, this would be it. This is the song I wrote when I felt anger and betrayal. I remember sitting in front of my piano thinking “If I were to say something to this specific person, what would it be?”. ‘Never Stay Too Long’ is being past the breakup, being past their tantrums, and their superiority. Still to this day, every time I listen to it I remember why I left this relationship and why I would never go back because people like me never stay too long.

Facing the situation that we are dealing with, how will be your career be in the future?

I’m hoping that everything will get better soon enough. However, I think that in 2020 the music industry is very focused on the internet and social media. It’s fun to know people can still listen to my music from their beds, without having to go outside.
