We are back with our Top 10 Tracks, a weekly list featuring the best submissions from MusoSoup.

The criteria judged by our editorial team are based on the quality of the production, melodies, arrangements, and originality. 

Let’s see who the lucky ones are this time. 

1) CLIFFORD – Love Is Real

Hailing from Westminster, Maryland, Clifford Reeves is a singer-songwriter, musician, and producer influenced by Coldplay, Bowie,  Nirvana, Joy Division, and Michael Jackson, to name a few.

Clifford is releasing a brand new single called Love is Real, an acoustic song recorded in his home studio, that could easily be included in the soundtrack of the new Matrix Resurrections.

The lyrics describe his greatest hopes in a relationship, making an analogy between ego and reality, the double meaning can be literal or metaphorical besides the well-placed arrangements, with impeccable production, guaranteeing the first place on our list.

2) ELEKTRIC ANIMALS – Cheers

Elektic Animals are a band from Denver, Colorado, formed in 2018 influenced by blues, 70’s rock, and 80’s pop music resulting in a mix of indie and alternative rock.

The band is formed by Nick Sanders on vocals, Oscar Jara on guitar, Will Hubert on keys and vocals, Jerrid Van Scoy on bass, and Eric Everhart on Drums. 

Recently, they released a new single called Cheers, recorded at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, Colorado, where bands like Rise Against, Descendants, Alkaline Trio have already been there.

The record is about coming to terms with humanity and life and can be easily considered a self-aware Rock anthem. 

3) KONE MARA – Highway 1

Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, Kone Mara is a Scandinavian band blending indie-pop with alternative rock.

Recently, the trio released their second single called Highway 1 through the Northbound Music Group, following up their well-received debut after two sold-out gigs in Stockholm at Nomad and Sofar Sounds… It is pretty impressive for newcomers.

The single that was initially called Volcano came from the concept of a long summer in their minds, a metaphor about a nostalgic trip and the feeling of being abandoned, written and produced by Kone Mara and mixed by Simon Nordberg; (Britney Spears and Heather Nova).

The melodies are very catchy with an uplifting mood resulting in a truly outstanding record.

4) ELISON – Meet Me Halfway

Elision is an indie rock duo that exists because of COVID-19, formed by the singer and guitarist Marissa Kephart and the multi-instrumentalist and producer Scott Yoshimura.

The project came to life during the pandemic when Marissa found the perfect time to develop her musical side, so she started taking voice lessons and playing guitar.

Meet Me Halfway is the first demo Marissa took to her music teacher Scott, becoming the debut single after their chemistry matched, and they formed the midwest duo. 

Inspired by bands including the likes of Dinosaur Jr., Yo La Tengo, and Soccer Mommy, only to name a few, blending the influences, creating a particular sound, the single is about leaving unhealthy relationships behind, combining a super catchy and immersive atmosphere.

5) JESS BALL – Thank You

Jess Ball is another Melbourne talent; she is a singer-songwriter who started to develop her talents at the early age of 11, influenced by artists like Jack Johnson, Missy Higgins, and her vocal coach, who helped her explore different styles of music.

Now she is getting a lot of attention from tastemakers, including MTV, who supported her debut single besides collaboration with the famous twin duo Nervo.

Collecting a lot of achievements in the industry, she is back with her latest release called Thank You; this song is about an unsuccessful relationship, exploring the sarcasm mixing vibrant guitar riffs with warm vocals.

The result is an anthemic hit with truly catchy melodies bringing together indie pop, rock, and commercial.

6) ESTELLA DAWN – Vixen 

Hailing from New Zealand, Estella Dawn is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer based in the US; she writes, records, and creatively controls all aspects of her music.

Since 2020, she has been releasing various records and getting a lot of buzz from tastemakers, recently Estella dropped a new single called Vixen, a song about feeling comfortable in your skin and leaving behind society standards with no shame. 

Singing with the melodic command, subtlety, and range that spans genres, these well-crafted songs contain multiple layers, subtle and soothing when needed and sharp and gritty when desired.

Showing that Estella is an artist of attitude and willingness to do whatever she wants.

7)  KSENIA – Girl From The Forest

Ksenia is a pop star-in-the-making, hailing from Nakhodka in Russian; she moved to Los Angeles to take her music career to the next level.

She previously won multiple awards for acting, including collaborations with significant record labels, writers, and producers that helped her build a massive audience, reaching more than 400k on social media, consolidating an outstanding career so far.

Following her dreams, she came back a while ago with a brand new single called Girl from the Forest, after the success of her previous EP.

The song describes her personality and story, mixing the traditional Russian instruments with folk melodies layered over a stunning hip-hop beat.

8)  MADISON DEAVER – C U In HELL

Hailing from Los Angeles, Madison Deaver is a singer-songwriter transforming her experiences into music, chasing the industry since she was a teen. 

After numerous singles out, she is following up her last EP, Tongue Tied, with a brand new single titled CU in Hell, keeping a pop-punk mood, written post quarantine.

The 21-century vibe with heavy guitars along with strong and dramatic vocals, displays demanding lyrics perfect to be played at high volumes. 

The energy puts this track as the break-up anthem of the 2000 generation. 

9) NIKKI ERA – Something Beautiful

Nikki Era is a multi-dimensional singer-songwriter from New York City.

She has been making music for the last decade, experimenting with multiple music genres blending pop and dance with alternative mediums, writing songs for major companies in the industry.

Not long ago, she co-wrote Jojo Siwa‘s hit song, D.R.E.A.M, achieving hundreds of millions of streams, confirming her boldness in the field.

Recently she dropped a pretty stunning music video for the single called Something Beautiful, experimenting with contemporary pop through the lens of different aesthetic “eras” or artistic chapters. 

Influenced by late ’80s and early ’90s glamours, she is currently in the mega era, a space where you are free to be loud, take up space and unapologetically be yourself.

10)  TORI BOLTWOOD – Con Artist

Tori Boltwood is a singer based in Fort Worth, Texas. 

She has been overcoming challenges in life, giving her the strength to not give up on her music dreams. 

Heavily influenced by Elvis Presley because of her dad, she started doing musical theater in the 6th grade and consecutively, started to play in a jazz band in her college years.

After a few records out, Tori released a single called Con Artist, recorded at Sound Machine Studio in South Texas, produced and mixed by Mason Shirley, and co-written with Jameson Tabor and Mastered by Dave McNair.

The storytelling style is inspired by her musical theater background mixing deep lyrics and soulful performance, combining sweet elements of classical music with the soulful grit of classic rock. 

The result is an excitable song that will have you grinning with delight as you unfold the hidden messages within.
