When it comes to music, there are countless talented artists out there. 

It can be challenging to narrow it down to just a few, but we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 recording artists that you should check out right now. 

1) THE KID AND I – Fade Away

Hailing from London, The Kid and I is an alternative rock band formed during the lockdown in 2020.

They mix pop-rock with introspective lyrics, a range of influences from Foo Fighters to Elliot Smith, blending catchy melody and confident themes for rhythm. 

The band members of The Kid and I are Jacob Powell on vocals and guitar, Henry Avedian on drums, David Whitmore on bass, and Roddy Lynch on lead guitar and back vocals.

Now with a full lineup in full swing, the band is on the rise, having already played several gigs in London and Bristol, playing at The Spice of Life, and The Amersham Arms, to name a few. 

Back with a new alternative rock single called Fade Away, combining massive riffs and twisted dark pop melodies, delving into the psyche of someone trapped in self-destructive isolation, pointing the band in a new direction, gaining heavier impact.

2) SON.PERSON – Loved U More

Since arriving on the Memphis music scene six months ago, Son.Person has worked diligently to make a name for himself. His goal is to gain national attention and expand his career. So far, he has been successful in standing out from the competition.

He is more than ready to establish himself as a global figure in the music industry.

At just 17 years old, this young artist has amassed over 2500,000 all-time streams and 20,000 monthly listeners, attracting local and national press attention. 

He has played in many different venues in Memphis, but recently he has been looking at the larger picture. A powerful statement from a young man who only desires peace.

Loved U More” is a candid expression of the challenges and struggles of trying to be enough. The message of honesty, torn emotion, and colourful sampling will resonate with many listeners. 

The guitar loops add an element of intensity to the track, making it one of the more memorable songs on the album.

3) THE CHAW – Build Them An Image

The Chaw began in 2010 in East Bay, California. That year, they spent their time rehearsing in an old, vaulted church, writing and perfecting their Debut EP, which was released in 2011; Stephen, the son of a travelling preacher, met Jeff and Jarrod through the bay area music scene.

Jeffrey Tollefson plays bass and provides vocals, Jarrod Taylor is on guitar, and Stephen Schreffler plays the guitar. 

The Chaw’s sound reflects popular rock bands Queens of the Stone Age, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Depeche Mode, and Interpol, as well as the psychedelic rock from the 2000s.

Build Them An Image” was recorded at Santo Studios in Oakland, CA, and at their own Recording studio at Oakland Music Complex. 

It was engineered, mixed, and co-produced by Greg Francis and mastered by Mark Chalecki at Little Red Mastering in LA.

The record is a distillation of 20 years worth of experience, a love note to the City of Oakland, and a ballad for the survivors.

4) SEASONING – Del Boca Vista

The Seasoning was created by Lachlan Buckle to develop his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Based in Brisbane, Seasoning has become a well-known name in the area thanks to Buckle’s dedication to his craft.

After fronting the band for some time, Buckle is finally ready to release their debut album. With various musicians playing on the record, the band has managed to create a sound that is both fresh and familiar. With new players in the mix and some old friends, Seasoning will please fans of all ages.

Seasoning is a band on the rise, performing at esteemed festivals such as Yonder 2021 and Mountain Goat Valley Crawl 2022. With upcoming shows supporting respected artists such as Andy Shauf, Cate Le Bon, and Bananagun, the future looks bright for this promising young group.

Del Boca Vista” is the second single from Seasoning’s debut EP called The Condensation. This laid-back number showcases the songwriting chops of Lachlan, nestled between a rolling bassline with tight drums and delicate, catchy guitar lines.

The song explores a relationship that’s been strained over time & in need of change, as the chorus explains. “I don’t want to live that way.” This follows the release of the single “Friends,” featured as a music video of the week on Rage alongside Methyl Ethyl and King Gizzard and the Lizard.

5) MADYSON LASH – Fortune Teller

Maddy’s solid and emotive vocals will make you feel empowered and emboldened.

With influences from Stevie Nicks, Amy Winehouse, and Christina Aguilera, her new track called ‘Fortune Teller’ is sure to be a hit.

7) MY COUSIN’S GIRLFRIEND’S HOUSE – Wasting Away

My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House is a band formed in 2020 by musicians with deep roots in the Philadelphia DIY music scene. 

The members of the band are Brian Quirk (Kissing the Klepto, Brian Quirk), Andrew Hight (The Jumping Juvies), and Pete Long (Above the Mendoza).

MCGH draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including pop-punk and indie groups like The Wonder Years, Modern Baseball, The Front Bottoms, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Revivalists, and others.

My Cousin’s Girlfriend’s House will release their new single, “Wasting Away,” on May 1, 3. The Philadelphia-based alternative indie rock trio’s second single following their 2020 debut EP, “Wasting Away”, is a hauntingly beautiful track that is sure to captivate listeners.

Scustin, a Dublin band that combines storytelling with alternative funk and R&B, is set to release its sophomore album, Sick of Making Love to You

The band, consisting of Larry & his buddies, describes their encounters with some of the characters that inhabit their world.

The song’s lyrics explore Larry’s personal reflections on the sexualization of the media and adult content in general. 

By personifying these forces as lovers, Larry suggests that they have made him believe that romance is dead.

Accompanying the release is a skit where we meet ‘The Killer’ once again. In it, he drunkenly rambles about his past experiences with a copy of the adult magazine ‘Mayfair’.

Melbourne-based producer/artist Nightingale understands this feeling all too well. That’s why he’s created a soundtrack for our cherished memories.
